NYSE to transition trading infrastructure on-chain
The New York Stock Exchange is building parallel tokenized trading venues to prepare for an inevitable, long-term industry shift toward on-chain infrastructure.
The argument
The guest from NYSE argued that while traditional market structures will evolve deliberately, the utility of on-chain infrastructure makes blurring traditional financial 'swim lanes' highly compelling. Operating an Alternative Trading System (ATS) alongside the main exchange allows NYSE to experiment with 24/7 tokenized trading and collateral management.
The thesis, stress-tested
✓ What validates it
- ✓Launch of the NYSE-affiliated tokenized trading ATS
- ✓Integration of tokenized collateral across InterContinental Exchange (ICE) clearinghouses
▸ Risks discussed
- ▸Strict 1930s-era securities laws limit rapid implementation of on-chain trading
- ▸Potential fragmentation of liquidity between traditional and tokenized venues
Hear it yourself
"And so the trading platform the the digital trading platform that you guys I don't know if this was the first time that this was announced, but in this in this announcement with you guys in Securitize, you named this digital, n NYSE affiliated tokenized securities platform, the ATS you talked about."
